Adobe Content Server Integration
Adobe Content Server is a 'Digital Rights Management' System. The system is responsible for digitally securing PDF and ePUB files (often known as eBooks), so that they can be sold or rented to customers with the knowledge that they cannot be copied or re-distributed without the owner's permission.
The system allows you to decide how many devices a customer is able to view a purchased book on, and even allows you to choose whether or not the customer can copy text out of the document. The configuration is so granular that you can even specifically choose which types of device a customer may view their purchase on (for example handheld devices, desktop devices, etc.).
Adobe Content Server is currently the only cross-platform DRM system for digitally protecting eBooks, with applications available for Windows, Mac OS and various mobile devices (including the Sony Reader), making it the best choice for protecting your electronic books. The system is so successful that Google recently adopted it as their primary solution, joining other book distributors such as Barnes & Noble, Random House, Sony, British Library, and many more.
We have integrated the Adobe Content Server with several systems, including both web and desktop applications and have found the results to be very positive. The content publishers we have installed the system for have given high praise to the ease-of-use they have encountered, and have all reported increases in sales since the system has been in place.
